Toulouse is called “La Ville en Rose” due to it’s many buildings of red brick. We learned of the Romans who first brought brick making technology and much of the rest of the city’s history from Penny of Toulouse Walking Tours. She did an excellent job of winding together the different threads of the city’s stories. After the tour, we followed her suggestions, as well as our previous research, to continue exploring.
First we enjoyed a drink in Le Bibent, a gorgeous salon with the thickest hot chocolate ever! Then to the Salle des Illustres art museum.
A few churches and a simple lunch later, we made our way home through the large park beside our hotel.
