Our new neighbors!

Today we traveled down river another 40 km to Amboise.  We are staying across the street from Chateau Amboise where Leanardo Da Vinci lived his final years and is buried.

Once again, our cycling day was spectacular.  The weather continues to be mostly sunny and cooler – very comfortable.  We didn’t even mind the headwinds we rode against throughout the day.  The roads were mostly single lane with almost no traffic.

Lunch was at a small restaurant, not even on our maps.  But it was full of local residents and workers and ended up being our largest meal of the day, yet costing much less than our meals in Paris.

This Chateau had some interesting features we had not yet seen elsewhere.  It has a large revolving ramp for the horses to climb to the upper lawns.  It looks a bit like the round ramps on our modern parking garages.  We also saw some very funny and unique gargoyles.
