Paris on a Sunday.  We heard the peeling of the bells of Notre Dame several times today.  Jon even had a stare-down with a gargoyle.  Jon lost!

We went to the Sacre Coeur Basilica and Monmartre.  They did not allow pictures inside, but we did the extra tour of the dome.  That meant climbing 335 steps up narrow circular staircases and across rooftops amongst the gargoyles.  The views were spectacular.

Mary Carol then led us on a walking tour she had copied from a book before we left.  We had lunch at artist’s square and found the home of Erik Satie, Renoir’s last home and one of the windmills.  Our tour ended near the Moulin Rouge.

All in all, a quiet day.  Tonight we repack for our train ride to Orleans, where we will continue our bicycling tour.
