We thought we had a large load ...

We decided to stay in Amsterdam one last day – mostly to stay off our feet and recover from all the walking we’ve been doing.  One highlight of the day was a canal cruise through the city.  We got to see a number of places we had already been, including the bridge across from the Ann Frank house where we first entered town, and the corner where our accident was.

One piece I forgot to mention yesterday – I got zapped by a bit of Dutch humor we had been warned about in one of the tour books we read before coming over.  I asked a bus driver if he knew where an address was, which I had on a piece of paper.  He asked me if I knew where it was.  When I said no, he replied – “Well, I know where it is.  So you have a problem and I don’t”!

So, although we had a rough beginning here, and the crowded big-city stuff is similar to other metropolitan areas – we have to admit that we were able to walk the streets well into the evening – feeling safe.  And overall, we have not only enjoyed our stay here in Amsterdam, but have already started a list of what we want to see and do next time!
